New diffuser on the F1.09

Finally BMW debuted its brand new double diffuser!
It didn’t do wonders, but it did help to improve the car’s pace in Turkey. 10&11th in Quali, not bad after the horrible weekend in Monaco, and both drivers are heavy on fuel load for tomorrow, so strategy can be good. Lets see what happens in the race.
Here is the new diffuser:
Notice that is a combination of Brawn and Toyota’s concept. From the Brawn, the plane facing the ground with curved “V” shape, and from Toyota the extra element placed more backwards.
Though, the chanel is still smaller than Brawn’s, and not so effective, as the car’s rear wasn’t designed around it and some elements such as the lower attachements of the suspension couldn’t be moved too much. Also the crash structure position, despite modifications, is still obstructing a bit.
The sides of the diffuser have remained unchanged.
Expect further evolutions in the coming GP’s.
PS: For those who wonder, the hole in the lower red-painted area is where they insert the engine starter device. It’s painted in red as normally there isn’t much visitibility there (dareker than what it may look on photos, I can tell you from my own experience!) so painting in red certainly eases the task for the mechanic
